Tsavo National Park is an iconic place and home to the biggest herds of elephants than any other national Park in Kenya. Wildlife experts say that Tsavo boasts of elephants with the strongest gene pool of elephants carrying big ivory than any other park all over the world.
Elephant numbers have gone down drastically as a result of poaching but efforts are being made by different players including the government of Kenya and elephant numbers are back on their way up. In the last few years, their population has been increasing by 5% per annum with more than 15,000 of the jumbos calling Tsavo home.
