Soldiers left. Otters returned. Once scarred by war, Kinmen became Taiwan’s last otter stronghold.
Born to shellfire, a local man unexpectedly documented these endangered creatures thriving among abandoned bunkers.
As the world marks the 80th anniversary of WWII’s end, Otter emerges as a peaceful ambassador. This film is dedicated to all who lived and still live beneath skies of war.
Film maker Marina Pai is the producer and presenter of Taiwan’s first wildlife-focused television program, having filmed across seven continents. She is an environmental educator and author of several popular science books, and actively promotes Taiwan’s ecological diplomacy through international film festivals. This film marks her directorial debut, drawing from a decade of field research and firsthand experience in wildlife documentation.
