Since time immemorial, the Tłı̨chǫ people of Canada's northwest territories have travelled hundreds of kilometers north to hunt the Bathurst caribou near Kok'etl lake. However in recent years the population of the herd has declined rapidly. Despite the territory-wide ban on hunting Bathurst caribou their numbers continue to fall.
