‘My Sweet Paro’ captures an emotional journey through the lens of a heartwarming documentary by Wildlife SOS. The film sensitively portrays the rapport forged between Baburam, a devoted caregiver, and the 74-year-old Suzy, a blind elephant, who he lovingly calls ‘Paro’.
Having worked for over 50 years as a caregiver, Baburam provides insights into the life of this geriatric elephant who was rescued from a circus in Andhra Pradesh in 2015. The elephant completes nine years of her freedom with Wildlife SOS this year, but at the same time she also celebrates nine long years of companionship with Baburam.
The duo’s peaceful life is captured in the serene surroundings of the elephant sanctuary, which was a result of collecting visuals of their bond for the past nine years. In this film, Baburam’s care for Suzy, combined with his impassioned plea, teaches us to overcome humanity’s flaws by embracing our remarkable capacity for love.
At 74, Suzy – a female elephant – is one of the oldest pachyderms in India to live in rescued care. To highlight Suzy’s journey and her special bond with her caregiver Baburam, This short film titled traces her life at the Elephant Conservation and Care Centre in Mathura. With Subtitles.
